A princely collection
From 11 to 14 October, Sotheby's organised auctions of the princely collection at Hôtel Lambert.
A landmark on the Seine's Île Saint-Louis, the Hôtel Lambert, known to some as the Versailles of Paris, has had an eventful life, but has always remained in private hands.
Last February, it changed ownership. One of the branches of the Al Thani family, which had owned it since 2007, sold it to businessman Xavier Niel. The breathtaking collection that furnished the Hôtel is now being sold at Sotheby's for the benefit of the Al Thani Collection Foundation.
We were commissioned by Sotheby's to produce the decor for the Galerie Parmentier for the exhibition and auction of 1,134 lots!
Expectations
We regularly work with Sotheby's to produce the backdrops for its auctions and associated exhibitions.
To showcase the princely collection at the Hôtel Lambert, the aim was to create immersive spaces on the 3 floors of the Galerie Parmentier, as well as a backdrop for the auctioneer.
To achieve this, we covered the walls with a velvet-effect textured adhesive to immerse visitors in a 17ᵉ century setting.
The entire space was decorated with photos of the Hôtel Lambert, printed on jet tex canvas and adhesive tape. We also reproduced a panoramic fresco (8.30 x 3.90 m), also printed on velvet adhesive, to cover an entire wall.
At the entrance, signage printed on tarpaulins, stickers and canvas was laid out to inform and direct visitors.
