Berluti - Play with patina

Berluti X Exhibit Group

Artisan colourists

For the new season, the Berluti House pays homage to the patina on leather, delighting lovers of exceptional shoes and bags.

Developed by Olga Berluti in the 1980s, this technique involves applying creams and natural colour pigments using precise gestures to give the shoes transparencies and coloured tones, reminiscent of the patina of time. Legend has it that Olga invented this play of colours, contrasts and transparencies, which gives each Berluti shoe its signature, when she noticed the influence of the moon on the depigmentation of leather.

We dressed three of the brand's Parisian shops in a cameo of patinated colours to highlight this exceptional expertise.

Expectations

The brand wanted to highlight the range of Berluti patinas to appeal to its customers who love exceptional leathers.

To showcase this rich palette, we have created a bespoke animated display made up of rotating cabinets. An ingenious mechanical system turns shutters covered in shimmering patinas to play with their reflections and reveal a sumptuous play of shades.

This cameo is also displayed on fixed wood panels.

In the showcases, mirrored Dibond panels reflect the light, creating reflections on the leather that highlight the subtlety of the Berluti patinas.

Colourful precision work

Creating these nuanced decors required careful colour matching to reproduce the exact shades supplied by the customer.

In all, more than 210 m² of prints were deployed in the boutiques on Rue de Sèvres, Rue Marbeuf and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

The elegant decorations were installed overnight. Our in-house fitters ensured that all the patinas were perfectly applied to the mechanical equipment and the fixed partitions. They also installed adhesive lettering on the windows, printed and cut in our workshops, as well as neon lights and displays designed around wooden masts.
